Field Based Learning
I have always been passionate about teaching my students that art isn’t just a painting that hangs on a wall. It comes in so many forms, mediums and careers. I want them to see that art is everywhere, it’s all around you even in the most unexpected ways.
I took my class to Scarborough Bluffs to for their field study assignment to collect data, in forms of plein air drawings, photography, video recordings, audio recordings and note taking.
Taking what you learn in class and bringing it outside of the school walls, is how we prepared you for life beyond high-school. Our job as educators is to inspire and teach you these skills to take with you

Art Therapy with Seniors
I led the grade 12 students in a program providing art therapy to Seniors over a 3-5 day program at Presentation Manor . The program is a culminating task set out top bridge gabs between generations through various art related activities. The first day student's meet their partnered senior and learn a lesson from them like knitting, to gain comfort and respect. Middle days students take their seniors through a guided lesson on making mixed media beach paintings, using all senses by gluing sand and shells to the canvas and applying paint with a sponge to create the beach effect. The final day ending in a 2 piece painting, where each partnered senior and student work together to create a cohesive image across two canvas' ending with gifting their half to the senior or each other. Students gained a powerful experience, respect and were able to use their skills learnt in class to help others to enjoy and artistic activity with the younger generation.
COVID-19 Posters
In my 11/12 students Art for Advocacy Assignment, I directed them in completing works to draw attention to life in the pandemic with COVID-19 art and to thank our frontline workers. Art works were printed and displayed on Scarborough Health Network Foundation as well as at Councillors Cynthia Lai Office in ward 23 of Scarborough.

Blue Monday Donation Bus
I lead a strong group of student union members in running a donation bus for Blue Monday.
Throughout the day, we donated cooked meals, clothing, school supplies, stuffed animals and non-perishable foods to social agencies across Toronto, including Eva’s Phoenix homeless youth shelter and Muslim Welfare Canada. We also stopped by two Yee Hong Centres for Geriatric Care locations, plus Sts. Peter’s and Paul Ukrainian Seniors Residence, to deliver snacks and spend time chatting with the residents.

#ShowLoveTO local art initiative
I planned and executed for 3 of my students and myself to exhibit in the #NoVacancy Exhibition at Congee Town, displaying art work in the windows to draw the community to the storefront of local businesses.
The #NoVacancy program is part of The City of Toronto's #ShowLoveTO local art initiative In alignment with the objectives of the #NoVacancy program these displays intend to financially support and highlight small businesses, artists, and people in areas not only affected by the pandemic, but also impacted by local gentrification.

COVID Christmas
My Royal Crown Student Erwin and myself hand painted a winter wonderland mural that was photographed, printed on a backdrop banner and displayed at 3 malls in the Scarborough ward 23 region. The Winter wonderland was later replaced with a Lunar New Year/Family day backdrop in February.
The City of Toronto's Winter Activation Grant aims to provide funding for BIAs, Community, Not for Profit and charity groups to animate their main streets with winter activity. Although winter has always been traditionally a slow retail and tourism time, 2020 will have additional challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Winter Activation grant aims to support the local economy by celebrating art, culture and community by helping drive business to our main streets during the coldest months of the year.
Adjective: To support the local economy by celebrating art, culture and community by helping drive business to our main streets during the coldest months of the year. The grant also aims to advance equity and to include and benefit citizens, businesses and artists from every part of the city.
